Paint, Prep, Perfect: A "Handy" DIY Refresh

Over the past five years of transforming spaces, I’ve discovered that paint is hands down the most powerful and budget-friendly way to change the feel of a room. Whether I’m starting with a bright, blank canvas or creating a cozy, moody vibe, one thing is always true—Handy Products (https://handyproducts.co/) are right there with me. That’s why I’m especially excited to share this recent project: I partnered with Handy Products to completely transform my mom’s bathroom, and it turned out beautifully.

Handy Pro-Go Bucket

This space had suffered from some pretty serious water damage in the past, so having a fresh, clean slate to work with was a dream. From prep to paint, I used Handy Products every step of the way. I kicked things off with the Handy Pro-Go Bucket, which I filled with a gentle cleanser to wipe down the walls using a microfiber cloth. It might seem like a small step, but starting with a clean surface makes all the difference when it comes to getting a smooth, lasting finish. After everything dried, I jumped into cutting in the corners and edges—my favorite part! For that, the Handy Snap Cup was a lifesaver. It fits perfectly in your hand, holds just the right amount of paint, and keeps messes to a minimum, especially in tight spots like bathrooms.

Once the detail work was done, I moved on to the Handy Paint Tray. I love how deep and sturdy it is—it holds a lot of paint, so I’m not constantly stopping to refill. The magnetic brush holder is a small but brilliant feature that saves time and keeps things tidy (no brushes rolling onto the floor!). And when it was time to clean up, I simply tossed the liners I’d used in the tray, cup, and bucket—no scrubbing or mess. These liners made it so easy to switch between colors as I tackled other projects around the house too. Honestly, one of my favorite things about the Handy Products system is how every tool is designed with real-life painting in mind—like the built-in magnets that hold your brush securely in place, whether you’re stepping away for a second or moving room to room.
